The main responsibilities include:
 Translating various documents from English into Arabic and vice versa for internal or
external use as requested by the Director of Human Resources, specifically:
- Area Staff Rules and Regulations;
- Human Resources Department (HRD) circulars;
- New polices and initiatives;
- Personnel Directives;
- Area Staff Union (ASU) statements and minutes of meetings;
- Correspondences to and from (HRD);
- Training materials and presentations;
- Documents for appeals and grievances;
- Governmental documents and announcements;
- Documents requested from other HQ departments submitted through the Director of
Human Resources/Human Resources Officer;
- Other documents and/or papers as requested by DHR or respective HR Sections;
 Acting as interpreter at official conferences, internal meetings, meetings of HR Director
and HR Chiefs with external visitors such as: NGO representatives and government
representatives; interpreting at training sessions and other official occasions related to
area staff as requested;
 Being responsible for the regular posting and updating of Human Resources Department
news and website content; regularly monitoring internal social media bringing issues with
HR implications to the attention of HRD management and responding directly to HR
recurrent issues;
Additional Information
 The incumbent will be required to travel in the Agency's area of operations in the Middle
East, and may be asked to travel outside the region;
 The incumbent may be expected to work beyond regular working hours.
Conditions of service
Monthly basic salary JD 1086.60. Plus special occupation allowance of 69.90% of the
basic salary. Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic
salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and
dependency allowance (if applicable).
To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent)
from an accredited educational institution in English or
related field; a first-level university degree in combination
with three additional years of qualifying experience may be
accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree;
Relevant qualifications in translation and interpretation;
Work
experience
At least seven years of progressively responsible and
relevant experience in translation and interpretation work
from Arabic into English and vice-versa, of which three
years should have been in an international organization;
Language(s) Native command of Arabic and excellent command of
written and spoken English.
Desirable Qualifications
 Dedication to the aims and policies of the Agency and the United Nations;
 Thorough knowledge of Middle East contemporary affairs;
 Excellent command of French.

Place in the Organisation

The incumbent of this post reports to Chief Field Education Programme, Jordan (CFEP, J) as first supervisor and Deputy Director of UNRWA (P) as second supervisor.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent’s duties and responsibilities are summarized below:

§ Support Education Programme in having the best Occupational Safety and Health environment at WSTC and ATC through training the staff and students based on needs assessment, setting the SOPs, advising, recommending and proposing (as applicable) tools, equipment and any materials, procedures, actions required for better OSH in the VTC’s, monitoring staff compliance with set measures and produces and reporting regularly and as requested. To this end, the incumbent is required to take the following duties:



A) Inspect and evaluate workplace environments and conduct OHS risk assessment and enforce, in coordination with the concerned staff, preventive mitigation measures;

B) Develop and implement a plan to train all staff, based on needs assessment on a variety of topics related to Occupational Safety and Health and accident prevention to ensure that staff working at the respective duty station are equipped with the sufficient knowledge and skills that enable them to work and behave according to the safety and health requirements. Reporting on the implementation should also be submitted.

C) Ensure that adequate training and orientation is being provided to all students and trainees, either directly or through other qualified resources, and report on the progress and keep records.

D) Review/update/establish, policies, Minimum Occupational Safety Standards (MOSS), Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) and measures, according to international standards, to ensure application of advanced safeguard policies frameworks, guidelines and toolkits;

E) Conduct regular field visits to (Wadi seer Training Center and Amman Training Center) to assess the sites, meet with the staff and management to make sure that potential adverse occupational health and safety hazards are appropriately avoided and managed; and to identify potential areas of non-compliance with the OHS policies and suggest required mitigation measures.

F) Prepare monthly monitoring reports based on OSH monitoring procedure, and ensure that actions in the plans are fully followed up.

J) Develop database and update record on of fatalities and injuries and investigate incidents to determine causes.

J) Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions and prevent and stop any unsafe conditions and behaviors and provide the managerial staff with the justification and the action required.

H) Recommend solutions to any OSH issues, and recommend new control measures

I ) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.



Minimum Qualifications

· Diploma degree plus recognized training course in Occupational Safety and Health plus 8 years of experience in related function preferably in safety with large company or institution OR;

· University degree plus recognized training course in Occupational Safety and Health plus 6 years of experience in related function preferably in safety with large company or institution OR;

· University degree in Fire and Safety Eng. plus 4 years of experience in related function, preferably in safety with large company or institution.

· Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.



Competencies

· Good planning and organizing skills;

· Demonstrated excellent communication skills

· Ability to present information and data in a clear and constructive manner;

· Good analytical and numerical skills, including the use of MS Office and other related computer proficiencies.

· Ability to produce sound professional judgment

· Ability to work under stress and pressure

· Demonstrated problem-solving skills

· Good skills in writing reports.

· Demonstrated strong supervisory and training delivery.

Other Information

· Only candidates residing in Jordan with authorization to work in that duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply. EQUIVALENCY:

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, Field Director for Field Area staff and Director of Human Resources for Headquarters Area staff, in consultation with the concerned supervisor may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
